The Word of God and the Servant of God

Luke 3:1-3

V1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene, V2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. V3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

There is an order here for the servant of God. The word of God came to John first and then John came preaching.

The word plays an important role in the life of God's servant. The word sanctifies the servant. In John 17:17 Jesus prays to the Father and says, "sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." The servant must be sanctified before he can be effective in the service of God.

John was sanctified by the word and then he came preaching that word. When we go to minister using our spiritual gifts we minister the word of God.

The word of God is the key ingredient in the life of the servant of God. Therefore, the servant must make the word a priority in his or her life.
