This Too Shall Pass

“This too shall pass”, a comforting thought in our times of trouble. You won’t find these exact words in scripture, but it is derived from principles found in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. In this passage, Solomon expresses the cyclical nature of our world and the appointed times for all things. Sometimes, we get into a season that feels like it will never end. Perhaps you felt that way about this winter. Maybe your health is not what you want it to be. Maybe your job is unbearable, or you are in a season of unemployment. In his second letter to the church at Corinth, Paul comforts us by recalling, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (4:17, KJV). No matter what you are going through, remember that God is with you, and so are your brothers and sisters in Christ. Don’t be afraid to let the church family in on your sorrows; they can help shoulder the burden or simply be a shoulder to cry on. Never forget that God can use any circumstance to our benefit and that He is with us during the process.
