Philippians 2:5-11
Jesus' suffering became His pathway to glory at His Father's right hand.
V5-8 give us Christ's humiliation. He humbled himself and took on the form of man. V8 speaks of the obedience of Christ. V9-11 speaks of the exaltation of Christ. Because he humbled himself and obeyed the Father, the Father exalted Christ.
"V9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, V10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, V11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Suffering is also our pathway to glory. Yes, we will one day experience glory in heaven as a result of being the children of God, but God will honor those with glory in heaven for having suffered in this life. But we must suffer with grace in our hearts. If we don't fight the suffering with bitterness, anger and revenge but let suffering make us more like Christ God will honor us with glory.
Suffering is the pathway to glory.
