Stewardship
“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” Genesis 2:15
Genesis 2:7 says that God formed man of the dust off the ground. The next mention of man is in Genesis 2:15, where God put man in the garden to dress and to keep it. Adam was to cultivate it and guard it. He was to help it grow and protect it.
His responsibility was clear and so is ours in light of Genesis 2:15. Help the things grow where the Lord put you and then protect those things. This gives us a very concise goal for us in all the areas of our lives. Do we see the different areas of our lives as gardens to be cultivated and protected? Those areas may be our families, our jobs, or even a ministry at church that we are involved in. We help those areas to grow and then we protect them to ensure their continued growth.
Ecclesiastes 9:10a says, “whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.” Wherever we find ourselves we cultivate and guard that garden with all our might.
How is your garden growing?
