The first meeting

Before we see John the Baptist as the forerunner of Christ in John 1 he had a different meeting with the Messiah. When Mary just a short time pregnant by the Holy Spirit entered the house of Zechariah and Elizabeth in Luke 1:39,40 and greeted them John the Baptist leaped for joy in the womb of Elizabeth (Luke 1:41,44). The word leaped means to jump or move sympathetically. John the Baptist jumped for joy when he heard Mary come into the house. He greeted the Messiah with joy. What a way to greet our Lord and Savior each day.
