Our Approach to the Bible

We spoke this morning (1/3/21) in church about the profitability of the scriptures (2 Tim 3:16,17). The scriptures are profitable to teach us, reprove us, correct us and instruct us. So, if the scriptures are profitable what then should be our approach to the word of God?

Here's some suggestions on how to approach the scriptures:

1 I must be needy of God when I come to this book (Ps 42:1; 119:10)

2 I pray for God to open my eyes to behold wondrous things out of His book (Ps 119:18)

3 Receive with meekness engrafted word which is able to save your souls (James 1:21)

4 Rejoice and enjoy the taste of God’s word (Ps 119:103, 162)

5 Be ready to obey what God teaches us (Ps 119:34)

6 Hide God’s word in our heart (Ps 119:11)

7 Meditate on God’s word (Ps 119:15)
